Even though I used linen thread, I wanted to give my exchange ornament some additional body. I simply overlaid the lace with a plastic bag with a hole cut in the center & spritzed it with "Magic Sizing". According to the can--"light body without stiffness" & I would agree. My pricking was covered with sticky film so the sizing didn't bleed thru to my pillow. With the ceiling fan on, it air-dried in about 20 minutes. I would use this product again as it doesn't have that starchy appearance. Hope this alternative helps.
