It is a set of four pieces, actually: A little Swedish Gnome family, all dressed in their colorful little clothes and caps, with Mama wearing a pristine white apron! little Gnomes came from "Knypplade Bilder" by Fagerlin & Hulterstrom. These are all mounted on a card with a snowy mountain scene behind them, making them look quite at home! Their long hanging strings are pulled into the inside of the card, so that they can be removed and hung on the tree, if desired. But I think they're so happy on their card that they will be displayed there! AND they will be safer there between seasons! From:Ilske Thomsen, Hamburg, DE To:Janice Blair The second picture is the design I made and on what I worked. The both aren't identical because during working I change sometimes my meaning. I worked with linnen 50/2, for the plaited tree I used four bobbins as usual. I thaught first to taker thicker thread for it or to make another sort of plait but at the end I prefered the normal plait. The snow on the branches is done with four or five pairs. The end s come sometimes in the plait sometimes I put them back into itself (with macig threads) and a few of them are knotted with flat knots. Everybody could take my design and do a winter-tree for him- or herself if you wish. Acrobat Reader version of the prickingsFrom:Janice Blair To:Ilske Thomsen, Hamburg, DE It is an original design by myself so I am attaching a scan of the pricking that you can use on the website if you wish. It gives the bobbins and thread plus the size of the pricking on it. Acrobat Reader version of the prickingsFrom:Trish Fisher, Scott Depot, West Virginia, USA To: Kathy Hensel in Marcola, Oregon, USA The pattern is from Eeva-Liisa Kortelahti's book "Roses in Bobbin Lace" pattern 39 Tintti (don't know what that means in English!). I used Mettler cotton 50/2 in yellow From:Noelene Lafferty, AUS To:Jane Viking Swanson in Vermont USA
